From Navision to Microsoft Dynamics NAV to Dynamics 365 Business Central
The story begins with Navision
The story began in Denmark in 1983. The software company, PC&C A/S later Navision Software A/S, was the first to develop a user-friendly IT-solution with basic accounting functionalities for a single user. Later, the solution was developed to include several users at the same time and was also developed to involve more processes and departments.
During the next 20 years, Navision grew with more functionalities, until it could finally be classified as an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

Microsoft acquires Navision
After several years of cooperating with Navision Software A/S, Microsoft acquired the software company and the ERP-system in 2002. Now Navision became a part of Microsoft Business Solutions and was renamed Microsoft Navision. The acquisition of the software made it possible for Microsoft to offer an ERP-system to small and medium-sized companies.
During this time, Microsoft Navision was further developed to support the corporation between employees, customers, and partners.
Microsoft Navision becomes Microsoft Dynamics NAV
In 2005 the technology was renamed Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Following this, new versions of Dynamics NAV were named after the year they were released. The versions included more functionalities and technologies such as Finance, Supply Chain Management, and Business Intelligence.
Then after 13 years, Dynamics NAV 2018 became the last version.
